Lumin Launches Distribution Program in Caribbean Market Naming renu energy TCI, Ltd. Exclusive Partner in Turks & Caicos Islands
Charlottesville, VA – August 2019 – Lumin a clean technology company focused on optimizing energy storage, has entered into an exclusive distribution arrangement with renu energy, TCI, a Caribbean based energy company, focusing on renewable energy generation and electric transportation for Turks and Caicos Islands.
“The Lumin Energy Management Platform is in great demand throughout the Caribbean as the islands begin to adopt technology enabling a more resilient energy supply,” said Kevin O’Shea, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Lumin. “When paired with energy storage, Lumin homes are responsive to grid conditions, energy consumption and homeowner preferences. Further, automatic load shedding eliminates the need for a protected loads panel, for immediate cost savings and streamlined installation—two big hurdles our customers face when investing in energy storage.”
“First and foremost, we get behind the technology, products and people we believe will transform our energy infrastructure to a more distributed, more sustainable model,” said Matt Gorvin, President renu energy TCI, Ltd., who sees the Lumin platform as a critical link in the evolution towards the grid of tomorrow. “Lumin gives homeowners the control and data needed to make this leap and as a result we’re seeing greater adoption of energy storage. Working with the Utility, project by project, we’re building a more stable energy economy in Turks & Caicos and we’re delighted to be able to bring Lumin to our customers.”
Lumin optimizes energy storage by eliminating the need for a protected loads panel and giving homeowners full control to designate the set of circuits they wish to enable in an off-grid scenario. When triggered by an outage, the Lumin platform begins shedding loads responsively and disabling circuits, allowing for dynamic, remote control of the remaining enabled circuits. During grid outages, Lumin homeowners are no longer restricted to using a limited set of circuits locked behind a fixed protected loads panel. Instead, they can determine which circuits they would like to energize and when, so their home can reflect and respond to their changing needs. When grid power is restored, all circuits revert to their pre-outage state. Significant cost savings, energy savings and safety features combine to give homeowners with energy storage peace of mind in addition to affordable whole-home backup.
The Lumin Energy Management Platform is commercially available throughout North America and sold to home and building owners through solar and energy storage installers. It is exclusively available through renu energy TCI in Turks & Caicos Islands, the Cayman Islands, and The Bahamas.
