The Role

Lumin systems transmit high-resolution data from our smart panels up to our cloud systems, where it is captured and stored for historical user metrics, processed by algorithms to make smarter automated system decisions, and distilled to help us support our customers and evolve the product experience. Our Data Engineers build systems to effectively collect, route, process, and store this information efficiently and at a large scale.

You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Building real-time data processing systems
  • Helping to evolve our real-time processing framework
  • Keeping a keen eye towards making our systems smarter and able to detect anomalies quickly and effectively
  • Collaborating with the rest of the team to enhance both upstream and downstream product offerings
  • Building large-scale data processing systems to be able to crunch huge volumes of historical measurement data
  • Being a go-to expert to the rest of the team on how to leverage our data assets efficiently and intelligently

We're excited about you because you have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline is preferred. Experience and/or certifications can be substituted for degree requirements
  • At least 4 years of related work experience
  • Hands-on experience with at least one stream processing engine (ideally Flink) and working with Kafka
  • Experience in storing and querying large-scale time series data (ideally in Apache Iceberg and/or a purpose-built database such as Timescale)
  • Skill in scanning and processing data at scale using a data processing engine such as Apache Spark
  • Strong software engineering skills and discipline
  • Ability to work independently, making thoughtful decisions to navigate ambiguity
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, to collaborate effectively
