The Role:

The Senior DevOps Engineer of Cloud Infrastructure is responsible for the resilient operation of all Lumin cloud services. A successful candidate will be a critical, creative thinker who can apply their knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code to empower software engineers to accelerate software delivery to production as well as the stable, distributed operation of services.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Drive the vision and architecture of our cloud application environments
  • Use Terraform to build services within AWS following Infrastructure-as-Code best practices. 
  • Work closely with Product Engineering to advise on high-availability best practices, service architecture, and resiliency. Serve as an advisor and troubleshooting expert for other software engineers.
  • Implement and maintain role-based access controls and security groups to enforce the Principle of Least Privilege.
  • Maintain predictable cloud costs, identify aspects of cloud usage that can be made more cost-effective, and champion the improvements. 
  • Be part of an on-call schedule.

We're excited about you because you have:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, computer engineering or related discipline is preferred. Experience and/or certifications can be substituted for degree requirements.
  • At least 6 years of related work experience is preferred
  • Extensive experience with AWS, especially with ECS.
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform. In-depth understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code principles and how to implement them.
  • Good scripting skills with tools such as Python, Bash, Perl, and Golang.
  • Experience with Ansible, Packer, Terraform
  • Experience with containerization, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to build reliable, scalable, and cost-effective systems. 
  • Familiarity with multi-region cloud architectures to support resiliency.
